Katie Eilers is 17 years old and currently in her grade 12 year. A couple years ago, Katie experienced a knee injury. Since then, Katie has continued experiencing severe discomfort, pain, and mobility issues.  After encountering a few falls, further investigation was done and  was discovered that the knee injury was a small part of a much larger issue. Katie has been undergoing testing which has now indicated a clear diagnosis of  a very rare form of Megaconial Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. This form of Muscluar Dystrophy has progressively caused Katie muscle weakness, this type potenially thins the heart muscle and can lead to other serious medical complications.
The Eilers family are currently traveling on a regular basis to Regina and Saskatoon for medical appointments. Katie has been accepted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in early November.
As we all know the traveling and accommodation expenses will be at an ultimate high and medical coverage for traveling to the US is not provided. Not only do they have all of these medical expenses but home renovations need to be done to make their home accessible for Katie. With the family's current situation and the tragic loss their son 5 years ago, We are hoping to come together as a community and do the best we can to help Katie and her family out.♡
