Jeff Brannen’s Go Fund Me

Our lives drastically changed on September 11 when Jeff laid down to take a nap, had a seizure and then was unresponsive. Thankfully I was with him, called 911, and got him immediate medical attention. The next day an MRI revealed Jeff had a brain tumor. Then over the next few days his medical situation became more complex. He developed pneumonia from aspirating during the seizures, he increasingly had trouble breathing, and he developed a DVT. A chest CT was performed to check for pulmonary embolism and a large mass was found in his chest. A bronchoscope biopsy failed to determine the nature of the mass in his chest. Jeff had neurosurgery on Sept 22 to remove his brain tumor. We are still awaiting pathology reports to determine if further treatment is needed for that brain tumor. And we’re still working with thoracic surgeons to formulate a diagnostic and treatment plan for the mass in his chest. But doctors are saying he needs to recover from neurosurgery before making plans for thoracic surgery.

We are thankful that Jeff is recovering well from neurosurgery and we will likely be bringing him home soon. On the home front, we have pulled the boys from in classroom school for them to learn virtually through their charter school to minimize Jeff’s Covid risks since he is now high risk. I’m beginning to assess what our various needs will be once Jeff is home. I’m sure will need help juggling the boys virtual learning and Jeff’s various medical appointments (including many OT and PT appointments among others). I know our lives have drastically changed at least for now, but I’m not sure all the ways yet.

We have had several people asking us about wanting to help financially during this time with a Go Fund Me account. While Jeff’s immediate medical bills from hospitalization are covered by the Army, we are expecting long term medical needs. We will also be facing a number of unexpected expenses. These likely include paying for potential in-home help for Jeff, in-home help for the boys with virtual school and while I take Jeff to medical appointments, house cleaning, and lawn service. Doctors recommend we limit the number of people coming into our home as much as possible to limit Covid risks to Jeff during this time. In addition, I am stepping away from my job for the foreseeable future to give my total attention to Jeff’s recovery and ongoing medical needs.

Please pray with us for the Lord to fully restore Jeff’s body. Thank you for standing in the gap with us.
