My dad, Jeff Blewett, was taken in an ambulance to the Intensive Care Unit late Friday evening, 12/11/2020. He's been diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and osteomyelitis (infection of the bone) in one of his feet. Normal blood sugar levels are usually around 100, but his was 1,300 at the time of admission. He is on an insulin drip to slowly bring his sugars down and antibiotics for his foot. He cannot speak at this time and is very confused due to the DKA. They may need to amputate part of his foot because of the infection.
On top of this, he has been facing financial hardship due to job loss during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore he is behind on utilities and housing bills, along with being uninsured. Hospital bills mount up quickly, especially in the ICU.
This is a trying time for everyone, and everyone has lost someone or something to this pandemic. Any amount you can donate during this time would be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small.
