Jeff had not been feeling well for over a year. In March 2019, he was finally sent to Dana Farber & determined to have a type of blood cancer which ruins the production of white & red blood cells & platelets. The diagnosis is known as MDS or Myelodysplastic Syndrome. They found a donor and he had a stem cell transplant. He had to do chemo and receive platelets. After more treatments, some ups and downs, and more visits to the hospital, they determined he was in remission. It has been a little over a year since he was told that.
Jeff had a PET scan two weeks ago which confirmed the Leukemia is back and is affecting his bones/tissue. It has formed 2 masses, one on his back, near or on his spinal cord, and one on his hip which explain the constant pain he has been in over the past couple of months.
Jeff will begin a new battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was screened for a clinical trial last week, and we found out he definitely qualifies and will start on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. There are four phases to the trial which include different types of chemotherapy, right now this will be done via outpatient so he will be traveling in and out of Boston 5 days a week.
We would like to raise funds to help offset the expense cancer can have on a family. In September 2019, we did a fund raiser and it was great but those funds only last so long when you are not working.
Jeff continues to remain in good spirits and will fight this! Thank you for the positives thoughts and prayers - keep them coming!
Any thing you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
