At 55, Jed is having a midlife crisis. He has lost two jobs in the last 10 months, and is having serious concerns about his future life path. Jed is asking for your support on his Heart Quest around the country, to learn to follow his heart instead of his head, and help determine his future direction. He plans to visit as many friends as possible throughout the United States.

Jed had a great job with a small west coast company for over ten years, and planned on working with them until he retired. Then came several large mergers and subsequent downsizing, during which he lost his job. A reasonable severance package allowed him time to seek another job.

After six months, he landed a government job where he figured he could finish out his career and earn a pension. After two months of pointing out the incompetence of his predecessor (which was hindering Jed's progress), since they couldn't fire the guy Jed replaced as he had already retired, and since the boss was retiring in a month, the government elected to kill the messenger, and once again Jed lost his job, this time with no severance.

Now Jed is preparing to travel around the United States to learn how to listen to his heart instead of his head, and figure out what direction his future should take. His best friend and wife Kim (together for 33 years) also lost her job and has gone through a couple of jobs as well, as finding decent employment in far Northern California (Eureka, Humboldt County, 90 miles south of the Oregon Border) is a challenge.
