Hi we are Lee & Elaine who have a very poorly Collie dog with a badly torn shoulder muscle, which unfortunately isn’t going to be an easy fix, we’ve been informed by our vet & physio team this is a very long recovery for Jecht which can take up to 12 wks or more, we are currently on week 4. Jecht is recovering at home with multiple visits to his vet and soon to begin physio at a specialist practice out with our vet’s practice.

Jecht’s medication consists of a sedative every 8hrs to help keep him calm & sleepy as being a collie he’s normally very active and spontaneous. He’s also on strong pain control for the pain that he’s experiencing is quite excruciating.

Jecht is confused and a bit scared by how he’s feeling just now, he doesn’t understand what’s going on with him why he’s hurting so much. He doesn’t like us being away from him for any amount of time, I’ve been sleeping downstairs alongside him keeping him as comfortable as possible.

To give more of an insight of Jecht, we adopted Jecht when he was 3 yrs old from a Border Collie rescue charity, Jecht didn’t have the best start in his life, he was handed into the charity by a very concerned person who had seen his picture on Facebook advertised as free to a good home, Jecht was in a very poor state of abuse when they went to collect him. Since Jecht became a big part of our family he has blossomed into the most loving, happy, most friendly cheeky mischievous little collie boy, he has over come so many fears that haunted him from his past, he’s learned how to be happy and most importantly learned to trust people. Everyone is Jecht’s friend, he looks forward to our postman turing up daily even when there’s no mail for us the post man still comes armed with a biscuit for Jecht and our other collie, he sits by the gate watching down our street knowing what time he’ll turn up. On Jecht’s daily walks he doesn’t let anyone pass without him giving them a friendly story and happy smile, of course he’s hoping for a biscuit in return which doesn’t always happen he’s just happy he’s brightened someone’s day.

I wouldn’t normally do a go fund me, it’s not something I’ve ever had to do, I’ve always been very fortunate to have been in full time employment, through no fault of my own I was made redundant a year ago and haven’t been able to get back into work since, not for the want of trying.

Myself and Elaine my wife want to continue to give Jecht the best we can possibly give him to help him back to full recovery that he so much deserves, for him to be able to enjoy his walks, meeting his friends even though many are just passing strangers, to Jecht everyone is equally his friend Jecht so much deserves the best.
