Lifting Up Jeań-Paul’s Family in Their Time of Need

2007–2025

On May 30, Jeań-Paul Edler Marceaux passed away at just 17 years old. He was a young man with a heart full of courage, strength, and love, despite a life filled with medical battles that most of us could never imagine. This fundraiser is being created to support his family, especially his mother Candy, with burial expenses and to give her the ability to take time to grieve without the added stress of financial strain.

Jeań-Paul’s Story

Jeań-Paul was born in 2007, a perfectly healthy baby boy. At just 2 years old, he contracted a virus that damaged his heart and changed the course of his life. In 2010, he received his first heart transplant. From then on, Jeań-Paul spent much of his childhood in and out of hospitals, traveling to Little Rock for treatment more times than anyone can count.

Despite all of this, Jeań-Paul never let his circumstances define him. He loved life. He loved people. He had a joyful spirit and a kind heart. He had every reason to be discouraged, yet he wasn’t. He inspired everyone around him with his positive outlook and deep faith.

At 12, he received a second heart transplant. That gift gave him more time, and he used it well. He started his own mobile detailing business and dreamed of growing it into something bigger. He was always setting goals and thinking about the future. He truly wanted to live and embraced every moment he was given.

His mother, Candy, was his greatest advocate. She completely dedicated her life to his care. The constant travel, time away from work, and emotional toll were enormous, but she never once asked for help. Her love and strength gave Jeań-Paul the best life possible.

In the past year, his heart began to grow tired again. He had been hospitalized several times recently for dehydration and other complications. He was actually scheduled to go home on May 30. But in the early morning hours of that day, his condition took a sudden and heartbreaking turn. Jeań-Paul passed away that morning.

Even in death, he gave the gift of life. His eyes and tissue were donated, just as he would have wanted.

A Life That Will Continue to Inspire

Jeań-Paul taught us how to live, how to love, and how to keep going even when life is incredibly hard. He made the most of every year he was given and showed those around him what strength and joy really look like. His impact will be felt for generations. When Candy asked Jeań-Paul what his favorite Bible verse was recently, he went straight to his phone and gave her Romans 8:18. "Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later."
