As many of you know, there was a senseless tragic shooting that occurred in Las Vegas on the night of October 1, 2017. Many lives were lost and hundreds were injured. Our dear friend and fellow classmate Jeannine Ruggeiro was present and was impacted by this act of hate. As of right now, she is suffering from a gunshot wound which has caused a collapsed lung and broken ribs. She is currently conscious and awaiting surgery. We are all hoping for a full recovery but know that she has a long road ahead of her. With the permission of her family, we are asking everyone for help through thoughts and prayers and if you are able, financial support. The funds raised will be used to help relieve some of the financial stress she will endure from the medical bills and for whatever else she will need during her recovery period. All funds raised will be directly deposited to Jeannine's sister Tina Suhrke. Tina has been by Jeannine's side the entire time and has been designated as the contact person for the family during this difficult time.
Jeannine is a full-time student in the San Jose State Master’s of Social Work online program and had recently entered her final year. She is currently interning in the UCSF emergency department. For those who know Jeannine personally, know that she is always one of the first friends to offer a listening ear or provide support during hard times. She is also a dedicated advocate for individuals who are homeless, those have been impacted by domestic violence and is the type of person that would literally stop in the middle of the street to help an animal in need. After all that she has done for others, please help us in showing her love and support. Let us use this time to show the world that love will always overpower hate and that together, we can begin healing one another from this heartbreaking event.
Thank you all for your support.
