Hi, my name is Jeannie and on April 19th I had a slip and fall accident where I broke my arm while at my dentist’s office. I broke the humerus bone ( that is the bone between your elbow and your shoulder). It broke right above my elbow which my doctor tells me is the worst place to break.

I waited in hospital for 5 days for surgery. I had to have a plate and 11 screws inserted. I had a half cast put on for 5 1/2 weeks where I was unable to do anything but sit with my arm elevated above my heart. I was told “do it like it’s your job”. Absolutely no weight was supposed to be lifted.

On May 26th the cast came off and I was told to try and move my arm around as much as I could and put it in a sling when I went out or when it hurt to much. I have discovered that I have to learn to use my arm all over again. It is heavy and hurts to lift. My fingers are blueish and stiff, my wrist hurts to move the bit I can and my elbow has almost no range of motion. I don’t know how long this will last and I’m unable to work or do anything around the house.

I know I’m going to need Physio therapy but I don’t know for how long and what benefits I will see. My arm will never be the same again.

I talked to a lawyer who is willing to take my case on a contingency basis. Only catch is I have to pay for an engineer to slip test the floor. That will cost me $5,000.00 which I don’t have.

My family and I have been through so much in life with Damon being premature, both kids breaking bones and having to go to Toronto specialists, moving to PEI, my mom’s medical struggles and death, Craig shattering his ankle, Damon’s fibromyalgia diagnosis and other health issues, Angelica’s mental health issues and being bullied to the point she considered suicide, we have never asked for help before .

I am here today because I’m just so frustrated and don’t know where to turn, we need help. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated and if you can’t I completely understand. We all have our struggles.
