Hi,
Most of my friends and family will already know that it is my 60th birthday this October. People keep asking me what I’m doing for this milestone and I have thought long and hard about it.
My family and close friends all know 2022 was a bad year. I lost Paula, my best friend of 50 years to cancer, Mike and I lost Rob, one of our great friends to a sudden heart attack and then just one month later my dear brother Martin died suddenly of the same horrid fate.
As I approach 60 and leave my fifties behind me, I began to think about what I wanted to do and came up with a little plan to do a bit of fundraising which has turned into ‘Jeanne’s 6 towards 60 Challenge’. A fundraising event each month from May to October to try and raise some money for 6 different charities. Here are the details:-
May - Walk 100 Miles in May for Cancer Research UK.
June - Swim 10 Miles for Dementia for The Alzheimer’s Society.
July 8th (Martins 70th birthday) - 25km Ultra Challenge Trek for The British Heart Foundation.
August - Afternoon Tea for Breast Cancer Now.
September - Velocity Zipwire Challenge for The Motor Neurone Disease Association.
October - 300 mile virtual cycle ride from London to Paris for the charity MIND.
I’m so fortunate! I have a wonderful supportive family, amazing friends and most importantly my health, although after doing the Zipwire challenge that may change!! Seriously, there is nothing more I need, so the best possible 60th birthday present for me would be for you to donate as much as you can give to ‘6 towards 60’ and help me raise as much as I possibly can for these great charities.
