How do we even begin to share this story.... As you read, it is important to know that mom is alive and Cooper is okay. However, we all have a long road ahead of us. We are so sorry to have to share this news, and especially as we approach this holiday season.

 

On Monday, December 20th, our mom, Jeanne, and nephew, Cooper, were victims of a car accident. Their vehicle was struck in a senseless act by an aggressive driver (possibly intoxicated). They were hit head on at 75 mph, while at a standstill waiting to turn into Megan's driveway. 

 

Nine year old Cooper was thankfully released from the hospital on Tuesday with minor injuries to his chest and abdomen as a result of the impact. This is nothing short of a miracle. However, the unseen wounds of the mental health implications on him, and his 14 year old brother, Colton, who watched from his front window as the tragedy unfolded, along with their mom, first on scene, just home from a 12-hour shift at the hospital, is going to take time to heal.

 

Mom was taken to Denver Health where she continues to battle. It's a battle she has every reason to fight and we have every hope she will win. She sustained 12 broken ribs, a broken wrist, a broken bone in her hand, broken femur, right ankle, and right heel. Due to her age, she is at high risk for developing pneumonia. Her vitals continue to be lower than what they would like to see, but we all know what a fighter mom is!
