Jeanne LaChance, owner of JJ's Eatery Too, passed away on June 2, 2020. Many throughout Town fondly referred to Jeanne as "Mother" because she was always someone to turn to, who always had your back. She is indeed an icon of Old Orchard Beach. Jeanne was involved in many local community organizations and contributed to many causes. She was one of several who joined together to create BRASS, Bar Restaurant Association of Old Orchard Beach.
Jeanne opened JJ's Eatery on West Grand Ave in 1998 and it quickly became known for homemade, classically cooked delicious meals and a place locals loved to call home. In 2008 Jeanne moved to Old Orchard Street opening JJ's Eatery Too. Live music being something Jeanne loved, JJ's soon became a live music venue, supporting local artists, in addition to being the restaurant everyone loved.
Jeanne was always on the front line in supporting Old Orchard Beach, BRASS, The V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, OOB365, Chamber of Commerce and CAW (Community Animal Watch). A fond memory that comes to mind is when Jeanne partnered with CAW and hosted a animal adoption event at a local nightclub raising money and featuring shelter animals in need of a forever home, prompting adoptions.
Jeanne held many board seats and spearheaded many fundraisers. She always had something on the burner when it came to supporting the community and businesses she so dearly loved.
Now it's time to recognize Jeanne LaChance. Former members of BRASS have set-up this fundraiser to purchase a Memorial plaque to be placed at the entrance of JJ's Eatery Too. Jeanne's husband Ronnie, daughter Kelley Campbell and family are working to keep the restaurant alive and the locals & tourist who love this restaurant happy.
