Dear family, friends, and helpful human beings who found themselves here,
This go fund me has been created by Adelaide and James Mason Long to support a quick recovery towards a normal quality of life for our mother, Jeanmarie Long.
For those of you who do not know Jeanmarie, she is selfless, loving, and passionate for all people and creatures alike. If you've had the pleasure of knowing her, it is likely you have seen her light shining brightly through her captivating stories or her creative sense of humor. Most importantly, she has always been a caregiver by helping those who need it. And now it is her time to hopefully receive her blessings in return; thus, we have made this page to help keep her light shining.
We all become sick from time to time, some more than others, and we always hope for a speedy recovery so that we can get back to the normal way of life. Sometimes recovery simply doesn't happen in the way we hope, and the medical bills quickly begin to grow. Soon, you can't pay for it, and soon you begin to wonder if you'll be able to heal the way you need. Mental and emotional strain begin to take their tolls on the ability to physically recover.
Jeanmarie is incredibly sick with a lengthy road to recovery towards normal way of life.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED:
In July 2016, she was hospitalized for 11 days initially with pneumonia. Later, she was diagnosed with severe asthma; her lungs took a major hit causing more stress to her heart. She is already prone to heart problems due to her pre-existing thyroid condition (Graves' Disease). Six months later, she is struggling with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and has made very little recovery due to the expense costs for proper medical care.
WHAT IT MEANS:
Living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for the last 7 months means that Jeanmarie must remain on oxygen 24/7 to survive. The smallest of tasks take her breath away; simple things like checking the mail, washing the dishes, or just riding in the car. Most of what she CAN do is sit down with minimum movement and focus on doing several daily breathing treatments, take her steroids, take her heart medicine, and take her asthma medicine. Currently, the bout of conditions and medicines are putting her heart at serious risk.
HERE IS WHY WE ARE TURNING TO YOU FOR HELP:
Because of her condition, she cannot work. So she cannot pay her bills. She has applied for disability, but was declined. She in the process of appealing, but it is a lengthy process and she is in need of proper treatment now. She has applied for Medicaid, but was declined under South Carolina law. She is also too young to qualify for Medicare.
There is no telling how long it will take to recover from this illness. But with your help, she would be able afford some sort of plan, pay for her on going medical treatment, and participate in pulmonary therapy.
Our goal is $11,000. Every little bit helps and anything you are able to contribute would be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate then please share this story to whoever you can.
Thank you so very much and please share!
