Jeanie Cooper, Veteran
Donation protected
Hello dear ones,
We are asking for contributions for funeral and burial expenses for our mother, Jean Adele Linton Cooper, affectionately called Jeanie, who passed away with her children by her side on Labor Day, September 4, 2023, after a very brief struggle with cancer. Her death came less than a week after her diagnosis, and has left her family in shock.
Our mother Jeanie was an incredible woman. Strong, intelligent, a natural leader, nurturing, generous, curious, kind, and one of the most loving women we’ve ever known. Her lifelong commitment to helping others was obvious in both her personal and professional life.
She served in the United States Army for twenty years, as a commissioned officer in the Nurse Corps, and continued her nursing career in civilian life after retiring from military service. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing through the Walter Reed Army Institute of Nursing (WRAIN) program in 1973, and went on to earn a master’s degree in psychiatric nursing from the University of Washington while in the Army.
In her personal life, she consistently demonstrated her commitment to others through her love and care for her two beloved children, Eric and Lauren. She also led different volunteering efforts through the years, including starting and operating a diaper ministry through St Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Colorado for many years. She understood the value of supporting people in things both small and great. Her daughter Lauren was immeasurably blessed to have Jeanie living with her in Virginia for the past four years.
A committed Orthodox Christian, with the patron saint of Mary of Egypt, she modeled a life of faith and prayer to those who knew her, even during times of great personal suffering.
Please join us in honoring Jeanie, mother, nurse, and veteran, and contribute as you are able. We are fundraising to support her funeral expenses in Virginia, and to bring her from Virginia to her final resting place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Colorado, where she will be buried with military honors, and in the same hallowed ground as both of her parents.
We appreciate your support for our mother and our family during this time. It means the world to us to have her service honored. Any funds donated in excess of our needs will be donated to the Greater DC Diaper Bank, a cause our mother deeply believed in.
