To our family, friends, and supporters,
Recently Jeanette was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer.
In January, we became aware that Jeanette had a tumour, which was then tested and came back positive for cancer. After some other testing there was no signs of the cancer spreading to any other organs. Soon after, the doctor wanted to proceed with surgery as soon as possible before the tumour became obstructing. She underwent surgery on February 11, which was very successful where they were able to remove the tumour and 25 lymph nodes! A few weeks later, we found out that it was Stage 3 Colon Cancer, and that they were able to get out all of the tumour and all the lymph nodes that were affected by cancer. She then was referred to an oncologist for her next steps, which is 3 months of chemotherapy to kill any cancer cells that may have spread, and to increase her chance of not having any reoccurring cancer. Jeanette is currently starting to begin the chemotherapy as of April 1.
During these times we have had a great support system, that we as a family are so grateful for! Since Jeanette's surgery she has been off work recovering, and now she will continue to be off work during treatment. As some of you may know, Jeanette is a single mother of 5 children. While being a single mother some financial stress may occur trying to support her children during this time. She has always been the most loving, kind, strong and supportive mother to us over the years, we just want to make sure during these times she's supported and loved just as much! We would love for her not to have to worry about much other then her health and her recovery during treatment.
We are writing to our family, friends, loved ones, and well-wishers in the hopes that your contributions can help us alleviate some of the financial stress for her during treatment. This is absolutely not an obligation nor is there any pressure to participate, and we so appreciate your overall support in this fight!
