Jean Murat Irat was a God-loving, hardworking, loyal, and charismatic husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His presence was larger than life, loud, and unapologetic no matter where he went. He was the life of the party, the conversation starter, the debater, the jokester, and ALWAYS the best dressed. For over 20 years, he worked as an NYC cab driver and later part-time as an NYPD auxiliary officer to provide a quality life for his wife, children, and family members in Haiti. He also had a passion for music and travel and frequently traveled around the US and Canada with several legendary Haitian bands as part of their production team. He turned every conversation into a chance to impart some sort of wisdom that you can apply to your life. He was loving and caring and is deeply loved and cared for by so many.

Despite battling various health complications over the past 12 years, he remained in high spirits, and his faith grew stronger and stronger with each battle we faced. Unfortunately, my father tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, January 8th, and tragically passed away on Wednesday, January 19th. This came as a complete shock to our family, and we were not prepared to lose him this soon and in this manner.

All donations made will go towards funeral costs and additional expenses associated with end of life. Our family is deeply appreciative of any act of kindness that you choose to display, and we will continue to keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers as well.
