Help Us Honour the Life of Jean Margaret Hockey (ne Ward) of Raymond Terrace.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Jean Margaret Hockey—Daughter, sister, wife, mother, Grandmother, foster carer, Scout leader, childcare educator, and cherished friend to so many. Jean passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025.

Jean was a true battler, having overcome extraordinary health challenges over her whole life. She endured 13 years on dialysis, survived multiple near-death experiences, and was gifted 28 more beautiful years thanks to a life-saving kidney transplant in 1992. Through it all, Jean gave endlessly—to her family, her community, and every child she cared for.

Despite her strength and never-ending positive attitude, Jean was unable to obtain life insurance due to her extensive medical history.

We have created this GoFundMe page to offer a place for any contributions you might be willing to make toward covering Jean’s funeral costs. No amount is too small, and every gesture of support means the world to us.
