Flying drones is an excellent way to build team skills and community. We race with Hydra FPV and during Covid 19 we have been taking part in virtual races.
Most drone teams are funded by schools & school sponsors. We decided to form a team for students who don't have access to a school team but still want to develop the skills used for building, programming, and flying drones, skills used in the practical world of areal robotics, and the first step for careers in drone engineering and areal photography.
Tiny Turbines, which started in April 2020, is the only team with a female lead, and it is our mission to develop a team that encourages and values pilots not currently well-represented in this sport - in particular, female and LGBTQ+ students.
Tiny Turbines needs financial help because they don't have the backing of a school, and individual families have limited funds to contribute. Funds go to league fees and providing equipment for students who cannot afford their own. If you have a couple bucks (or more) they would appreciate your support.
Thanks for your support and let us know if you know a middle or high school student in the twin cities who would like to join us.
