On July 17th, I left work, after only being there 2 hours, and went directly to ER. I was admitted with severe Epstien Barr symptoms. This turned into a 3 month ordeal, with 2 hospital admissions,I had internal shingles. In October,I requested a cortisone shot for my shoulder,as it was bothering me terrible, and I was ready to return to work.I was pain free for about a week, and an MRI was ordered for my shoulder. Rotator cuff, had 2 tares in one tendon,I needed a labrum repair. In all I had 3 screws inserted, and a bit of my collar bone shaved away to do repairs. That was Nov.12th.
Short term disability ran out,Dec.10th.
Spouse lost his job Dec.8th,due to policy violation to come home to be with me on Dec.6th.
December 6th, I needed emergency transport to hospital,I was alone, and was having an angina attack. Spouse left work,to come home. Emergency staff arrived, and did transport to hospital.
December 23rd,I had what they are calling a "drop attack",which basically is me passing out,but had presence of mind to grab onto something,to avoid injury to myself. Spouse was near by,and helped me to bed.
Checkup with orthopedic surgeon, @ 8 weeks PO,no further appointment needed, but advised me,my shoulder would be a chronic problem, did not release me to work, and told me,the next time he saw me,was when I would need a shoulder replacment. Referred me to neck/spine specialist,as my complaints to him, about light headedness, fainting spell, numbness, and mobility was really giving me problems.
Appointment with neck/spine specialist was done, did MRI of my neck, although there were abnormalities, he felt strongly,my symptoms were severe enough to refer me to a neurologist. His diagnosis was Vertebral Basilar insufficiancy/subclavial steal syndrome. So bascially I have something that was preventing blood flow to my brain. Made referral for me to be seen by a neurologist ASAP.
Neurologist was seen early Feb. Did complete history & exam. I have a genetic marker for MS & cancer in my immediate family. Ordered a brain MRI & CTA scan. This was completed ASAP. Results of brain scan showed white spots, abnormalities in brain. A sign it may very well be MS,or possibly cancer.
CTA results came in this past weekend,on Feb-13th. Received phone call around noon from neuroligist. Results were abnormal, and there is calicfication/blockage in my throid. Which is preventing proper blood flow to my brain & vital organs.
The extent, and how she procedes next will depend on tests she has ordered,I will get confirmation of hospital orders sometime this week. (2-16-16 thru 2-20-15)
She has ordered a spinal tap to be done, because of abnormal brain scan. Abnormal CTA scan, she has ordered an ultra sound. She was very upfront & is very committed to making sure everything is being handled well. She advised me,that a biopsy, may have to be done to determine the cause of stenosis in my thyroid. Again that "C" word, was metioned, but I will handle this the best way I can.
Called neurologist on 2-14-15,as all day I have noticed a swollen lymph node in my groin. She was concerned, and wanted to have it checked out by primary care/or gynocologist. This is not the first time,I have had this swelling & pain. She suggested strongly,it has to be biopsied.
She has also ordered PT for me,because of my mobility issues. We're taking things as it comes.
As far as Brian's unemployment, hearing was postponed, will be rescheduled. (Company canceled hearing)
My long term disability, was determined, not enough medical records faxed by physicians in time frame needed to make a decision in my favor. However, these new records,MRI,CTA reports, and neurologist reports will help tremendously. No word on back to work,at the moment I'm having all I can do to walk & function "normal" here at home.
We have so many folks to thank for donations, whether they be private,or on this page. Many have helped in paying towards utility bills, food for the pups, food donations, Food Kitchen in Cheraw, have fed us as well.
