Hello, my name is Tim Watson. I'll start by saying this...setting up a GoFundMe account and explaining my family's story is done with a heavy heart and a swallowing of pride.
My 15 yr old son, Cristian, was diagnosed with autism when he was 4. He's been in and out of therapy pretty much his whole life. He's a wonderful, beautiful boy with more intelligence than I could ever hope to have. Cristian can fix anything with a motherboard, builds computers out of scrap (simply because he can) and loves to share funny memes he finds on the internet.
About a month ago he started complaining of muscle and joint pain which was coupled with a continuous low-grade fever. After visiting his Dr a couple of times, blood work was ordered. I took him to the lab for his blood draw on 9/04/20. Later that evening, his Dr called my wife and notified her that his platelets were critically low. My wife, Diana, immediately took him to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. I should mention, we live in Reno which is over two hours away. Reason being, my wife works in California and that's where the insurance is. Last weekend his was diagnosed with leukemia...B-Cell ALL to be specific. This news totally shocked our family, to say the least.
My job was 'cancelled' earlier this year due to COVID, and my wife badly broke her leg five months ago. She had just gone back to work, for one week, when we got the diagnosis. We have two other sons which are homeschooled. I try to handle the schooling for my kids (I'm not very good at it) and work as much as I can. My wife has taken a leave of absence from work so she can be with Cristian every day. Not only is my wife a great nurse, she's the most awesome mom ever!...who better to be with Cristian pretty much every minute?
The next six months will be met with aggressive treatment, and he will be a resident of the hospital for a month at the very least. I have no idea what our immediate future has in store!
Cristian's younger brothers, Connor and Chase, REALLY miss their big bro! You know, you don't really know what you have until it's not there anymore! Wtbs, as their father, I NEED to be with my sons...our family needs to be together! I love them all so very much...they are my heart.
Long story short...we can't get out of our lease in Reno! This causes some major separation issues/anxiety!
All Diana and I want is to be there for Crisian while making sure all our children are taken care of appropriately. We don't have family or any other support system in Nevada (we're from the SE) so to say we're in a bind is an understatement.
I want to do whatever it takes to provide for my family and give them the support they need and deserve. Due to the distance, Covid-19 restrictions, lack of funds and insurance issues (insurance can't be used outside of California) my goals, and more importantly, the needs of my family are in a state of turmoil.
My beautiful son is in God's hands and I know with all my heart he will recover. As a parent, my heart is heavy due to the uncertainty of being there for Cristian and taking care of my family. Thank you for taking time to read this brief story. Please know, all prayers are cherished and any assistance is greatly appreciated.
There is more to our story, and I'd be happy to fill in any 'gaps' and provide more info if anyone so desires.

Thank you and God bless, Tim Watson & family
