Je' Wesley - Brutally Beaten In ATL (Hate Crime)

Dear Community, Friends, and Family,
My name is Jermaine Wesley Day (aka Je' Wesley). I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to you all with a heavy heart and a plea for assistance in a matter of utmost importance to me: the pursuit of justice and fairness in the face of adversity.
On November 20, 2018, I was the victim of a brutal hate crime at the Joy Stick Game Bar on Edgewood Avenue in Atlanta, GA. I was viciously attacked due to my perceived sexual orientation, enduring verbal abuse and physical assault at the hands of individuals who targeted me with homophobic slurs. Despite being the victim, the legal system has failed me at every turn. #TakeALook
The solicitor general of Fulton County, Mr. Keith Gammage, charged me with a misdemeanor (affray), while dismissing the charges against my assailant, Charles Huggins, who was caught on camera taunting me with homophobic slurs. To add insult to injury, Mr. Gammage escalated the misdemeanor charge to a felony with the District Attorney, Fani Willis, leaving me facing grave legal consequences.
In the wake of these unjust charges, I lost my dream job with Delta Air Lines, plunging me into financial turmoil and uncertainty. Moreover, I am now facing false accusations of extortion by my assailants (William Nashon Scott and Charles Huggins), further complicating an already dire situation. The legal battle ahead is daunting, and I am unable to afford the necessary legal representation to defend myself against these unfounded allegations and seek justice for the heinous crime committed against me.
I am also facing challenges in restoring my reputation and reclaiming my voice. My Facebook account (Je' Wesley), a crucial platform for communication and advocacy, has been compromised by completely disappearing, and I am fighting to regain control and clear my name of baseless accusations.
In pursuing justice, I have encountered numerous roadblocks and injustices within the legal system, including disparities in treatment and procedural irregularities. Despite my relentless efforts to seek accountability for the perpetrators of this hate crime, justice remains elusive, and the burden of proof falls heavily upon me.
Today, I am humbly reaching out to you, my community, family, friends, fraternity brothers, former classmates, and acquaintances for support. I am launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to hire an attorney who can represent me effectively and navigate the complexities of the legal system. Your contributions will make a tangible difference in my ability to seek justice and reclaim my life.
I understand that times are tough for many, and any contribution will be deeply appreciated, no matter how small. Your support will not only help me in my legal battle but will also send a powerful message that hate and injustice will not prevail in our community.
Senator Raphael Warnock, whom I once looked up to as a beacon of hope, has failed to uphold the principles of justice and fairness. His cruel words to me and refusal to provide hope and prayer during a dark time in my life have left me feeling abandoned and betrayed. Additionally, Solicitor General Keith Gammage has played a pivotal role in hijacking my life. His mishandling of my case, including the escalation of charges against me while dismissing those against my assailant, has left me with irreparable damage. Despite my innocence, I have been forced to endure the loss of employment, financial strain, and emotional trauma due to Mr. Gammage's actions.
Every day that passes without resolution deepens the wounds inflicted upon me and erodes my faith in the very institutions meant to protect us. I urge you to stand with me in my fight for justice and fairness. Together, let us work towards a future where no one has to endure the pain and suffering caused by the callous actions of those entrusted with power.
Thank you for reading my story and for considering supporting my cause. Together, we can make a difference and fight against hate and injustice. Please do not forget to sign my petition at Click Here.
With gratitude and hope,
Je' Wesley Day
