Helping Darrin
Beschermde donatie
My stepson, Darrin Reid, has had multiple surgeries on his spine at the VA Hospital. After his last surgery in 2017 he was unable to continue working. He and his spouse moved to Mexico in order to afford to live. Later he was deemed permanently disabled by his military doctor. His condition continues to worsen. He now uses a cane and sometimes a walker.
He has seen two neurosurgeon specialists while in Mexico. And both specialists stated that his spine was permanently damaged by the surgeries done by the VA Hospital. They recommended another surgery in order to relieve his pain and to keep his condition from worsening. The surgery will cost more than $3000 USD for him to have in Mexico.
He is military retired and could go to the Naval Hospital San Diego for surgery but that would require multiple trips prior to surgery, hotel stays and hotel stays post-surgery for about a month of recovery. This would be extremely expensive, not to mention that he would need someone to care for him.
He needs this surgery to relieve him of his daily pain and to improve his quality of life. There are days it is difficult for him to get out of bed, there are days the pain is so much all he can do is cry, then there are good days but even on the good days, he has constant pain. Many people don't know how much pain he is in and not everything is posted on Facebook.
I am hoping that family and friends would be willing to help by donating so that Darrin can have the surgery he needs.
Thank you,
Linda Reid
