Sugar has been a beloved part of our family for 8 years now and has been my best friend through everything. Not only has she saved my life multiple times by being my diabetic alert dog, but she has also has saved me from multiple bad days with her cute smile and comforting tail wiggles. Sugar has been diagnosed with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia or IMHA. IMHA is a serious life threatening condition that attacks and results in destruction of her red blood cells. Without treatment the condition is fatal. Sugar hasn’t been eating for multiple days now and her packed cell volume is 25% which is 10% less than normal for dogs. They will start blood transfusion if it drops below 21%. Sugar is currently in the hospital and if we aren’t able to afford the treatment, it is likely she won’t make it.
