Help Asher Fight Hurler Syndrome
Meet Asher.
He’s a joyful, brave, and bright-eyed little warrior at only two and a half years old. But behind his contagious giggles and sweet spirit lies a battle no child should ever have to face.
Asher has been diagnosed with Hurler Syndrome (MPS I) — a rare, progressive genetic disorder that affects every part of the body. Left untreated, Hurler syndrome can lead to severe physical and neurological decline. It is life-threatening. But there is hope — and Asher needs your help.
⸻
What is Hurler Syndrome?
Hurler Syndrome is a rare lysosomal storage disease caused by a missing enzyme that the body needs to break down certain sugars. Over time, these sugars build up in the cells, causing damage to the heart, brain, bones, and organs.
Children with Hurler often experience developmental delays, breathing problems, skeletal abnormalities, and vision/hearing loss. Most tragically, without early and aggressive treatment, children with Hurler typically don’t live past childhood.

Asher’s Treatment Journey
Thankfully, Asher’s condition was diagnosed early — he spent the first year of his life in the hospital and has already undergone treatments like chemotherapy and a bone marrow (stem cell) transplant, at the age of six months old that unfortunately didn’t take. This is currently considered the best option to slow the progression of the disease.
Asher has already endured multiple hospital visits, spinal taps, infusions, and intense medical testing. Ahead lies a long, uncertain road that may include:
• Life-saving bone marrow transplant
• Chemotherapy and recovery
• Extended hospital stays
• Physical, speech, and occupational therapy
• Special equipment and mobility support
• Long-term follow-up care
⸻
Why We Need Your Help
The financial burden is immense. Asher’s parents are doing everything possible to give him the best care, but the costs are overwhelming. Funds raised will go toward:
• Medical bills and insurance gaps
• Travel and lodging near the hospital (which could be out of state)
• Post-transplant medications and care
• Specialized therapies and equipment
• Lost income from unpaid leave, treatment for Asher is not local (out of state) and one parent must remain with him at all times for weeks at a time.
Any assistance from the state is cut off once he is admitted as inpatient to the hospital for the extent of his stay.
Every donation — no matter the size — brings relief, hope, and healing to Asher and his family. Even if you can’t give financially, sharing this page and sending prayers makes a world of difference.

Asher Deserves a Future
Asher is just beginning his journey — he hasn’t even had the chance to start school, ride a bike, or make lifelong friends. With your support, we can give him a chance to grow up, to laugh, to learn, and to live a full and beautiful life.
Please consider being part of Team Asher today.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, generosity, and kindness.
