Everett's Recovery

Story

As many of you know, my 17-month-old nephew Everett was diagnosed with a brain tumor last week. My brother Ryan and sister-in-law Lori noticed some balance issues and took him into the ER where they did a head CT scan and found excessive fluid and a large tumor on the back of his brain. They inserted a tube to drain the fluid and on Friday morning, he had a 6 hour surgery to remove the tumor. The pathology results should be back later next week. He is currently in the ICU recovering and doing well. At this time, they do not know what type of treatment or follow-up is needed. They also do not know what his recovery will look like. Lori is a stay at home mama who just gave birth a month ago to sweet baby Lincoln and Ryan is a self-employed handyman. After Lincoln was born, he had some breathing issues and was in the NICU for 5 days. Ryan was off of work while him and Lori went back and forth to the hospital to be with Lincoln while also caring for Everett and their 10-year-old son Kaleb at home. Sadly, Ryan’s grandmother also passed away during this time, only adding to the the length of time Ryan needed to take off from work. In all, he has already missed a month of work and will be off of work for at least the next several weeks as he goes back and forth to the hospital while also caring for a newborn and Kaleb. Lori has been in the hospital with Everett this entire time. As you can imagine, this has added an incredible amount of financial strain in their lives. Lori and Ryan never ever thought they would be in this situation and have had to put aside their pride in order to allow me to ask for help for them. If you know my brother, he is one of the hardest working dad’s out there. He’s also a big softie with the biggest heart. I love him so much! Lori is his perfect match, a self-described, “Mama Bear” with the fiercest of love for her 3 sons. She is an amazing mom. They are beyond grateful for the love and positive thoughts they’ve received so far in this process. Anything you can do to support brave little Everett and his family in their journey towards his recovery is greatly appreciated. All donations not used toward their living expenses and Everett’s recovery will be donated back to Children’s Wisconsin Hospital in Milwaukee, where Everett is receiving care.
