My strong, generous, fiercely independent sister has spent the better part of this year battling breast cancer. She has had surgery and endured 6 months of chemo, which she worked through to support herself and her children as she was unable to receive disability due to her “gig” work. Since her major surgery in May, she has been unable to continue working. Just recently, she has experienced a few set backs in her recovery. While preparing to finally get back to work, she has required additional surgeries delaying her ability to do so.
