JD the tripod’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
Our beloved cat, JD, is currently fighting for his life in the emergency vet hospital. He’s only 2 yrs old and still has so much life to live. He has always been a healthy, curious, and playful cat but a few days ago, his health started rapidly declining. We’ve taken him to 3 vets and done almost every test imaginable. His blood work is still not improving and he hasn’t eaten in 4 days (despite treatment). They are continuing to run tests on him and he will remain hospitalized until we know what is wrong with him and can treat him.

JD is deeply loved by our entire family - but especially his 1.5 year old human brother who keeps asking where “jayy-deeeh” is :(

He is a special needs cat, born with 3 legs and a twisted back leg. He was fostered by my dear friend, Caroline Grace (Baby Kitten Rescue), who was able to straighten his hind leg. We adopted JD from Caroline 2 years ago as we have a soft spot for tripod cats! We also have two other cats we’ve adopted, Thelma and Louise - Thelma is a tripod too.

We’ve accumulated $3,000 in medical bills in the past few days and just found out he’s going to need to stay at least another 24 hours (which is another $2,000). We are researching an off-market medication that could help JD, but it is also costly.

Thank you so much for your assistance. We love our little guy and will do anything to save him.

UPDATE #2 (5/29): We received a new estimate from the specialty hospital (includes 2-3 nights hospitalization, fluids, ultrasound, feeding tube, medication, blood work) which brings our estimated total charges to $8,314. After speaking with the new doctor caring for JD, we feel confident he is in good hands and feel hopeful that we will be getting some answers soon.

UPDATE #1 (5/29): We moved JD to a specialty clinic this morning (more information in update below). In the last 3 days, the vet bills have added up to $3,427. We have just checked him into his 4th hospital now and are awaiting a treatment plan and cost estimate. Given the treatment plan will involve (at the very least) overnight hospitalization, medication, fluids, an ultrasound, and a feeding tube, we are expecting the next bill to be pretty high as well. Your donations are directly being used to support our efforts as we continue to search for answers and the right treatment plan. THANK YOU!
