A New Heart for Scarlett
Donation protected
One of our church/preschool families needs our help. On October 5 of this year, the Berlanga family was hit was some terrible news. Baby Scarlett ( 4.5mos) was diagnosed with severe dilated cardiomyopathy. In simpler terms, she is in heart failure. They will find out this week if she is a good candidate for translplant. We realize that for an infant to get a new heart, another infant has to lose theirs. This is a very hard thing to think about and it weighs heavily on all of us. It can take up to a year to get a heart. They are not sure that Scarlett's heart will hold out that long. Currently, Scarlett is hospitalized in Portland and Katie is there with her. If she is a transplant candidate, they will most likely move her to the children's hospital in Seattle for the procedure once a match is found. In the mean time, they are trying to slow the progression with medication and will keep her in the hospital at Portland. The expense of travel and missed work on top of hospital stays and medical expenses will add up quickly. We are trying to raise money to help off set as much as we can. They should be focused on Scarlett and Madison and not stressing over finances. If you can help at all, please consider a donation. Please pray for them as they go through this time, pray for the doctor's and nurses and, in the event that she needs a transplant, please pray for that famliy now too.
