Searching for relief from what was initially only believed to be a migraine, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Assistant Commander, Lieutenant Kaylon McDaniel traveled home from work on July 9th 2021. On July 10th 2021, Lieutenant McDaniel was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center (JRMC) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he was immediately admitted into JRMC’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with severe Covid-19 and pneumonia. That was just the start of the fight of his life. On July 25th 2021, Lieutenant McDaniel’s condition worsened, forcing physicians to intubate him to place him in a medically induced coma. On July 27th 2021, Lieutenant McDaniel was airlifted to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR, where he remains in a coma and critical condition. The global pandemic caused by the Coronavirus, also known as Covid-19, and the new Delta Variant has run a devastating course on Lieutenant McDaniel’s body. Doctors have said most people in his condition don't survive this long and that he has an incredibly strong heart! Lieutenant McDaniel began his law enforcement career in 2013 with the Pine Bluff Police Department, where he remained until separating from the agency in 2019 to accept a position as a Special Agent in Executive Protection /Cyber Crimes with the Office of the Arkansas Attorney General. In 2019, Lieutenant McDaniel joined the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, where he was originally assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division. However, given Lieutenant McDaniel’s institutional knowledge in public safety and investigations, he quickly rose through the ranks. Lieutenant McDaniel has been a law enforcement officer for 8 years, serving with integrity and kindness. It's the job he was born to do and he loves every minute of it! The love and support from those who know Lieutenant McDaniel has been inspiring and heart-warming to see. We are forever grateful for the prayers, well wishes, and support in so many ways from everyone! Many have asked for ways they can help Lieutenant McDaniel or his family out, and while we all wish there was more we could do, we do know he has a very long and expensive road ahead of him and so this GoFundMe was set up as a way for those near and far to help support Lieutenant McDaniel and his family by easing the financial burdens of medical expenses, lost income, recovery, and future expenses. Thank you so much for sharing, donating, and most especially love and prayers! We are praying for continuous miracles to get Lieutenant McDaniel onto recovery and back home with his family!!!
