Jakemans Community Stadium Pitch Renovations

One of the best things about having the Jakemans Community Stadium as our home ground is the fantastic quality of our pitch. Our brilliant groundsman Jim and his team work hard all year maintaining and improving the playing surface - meaning we never worry about postponements due to poor pitch conditions.

Talking of which, how frustrating has it been this season with other clubs calling off games at the last minute resulting in a backlog of fixtures in March? How envious they must be of our pitch! However, there is more to Jim’s work than just doing what you or I might do to our own lawn at home. Jim works to a five-year plan and this is year five, which means the whole pitch must be fully renovated at a tremendous cost to the Club, namely over £60,000.

We, the Supporters Association wondered what we could do to help and decided to ask the Board of Directors if we could try a crowdfunding campaign. We have never done this before, but the Board agreed for us to give it go. We appreciate some of you might not agree with it, but other clubs such as Darlington and Chester do this every year and raise massive sums of money for their clubs.

Ideally, we would like to raise £30,000 initially, and the Supporters Association will start this off by putting £5,000 into the pot. If we surpass this figure, then we will continue to increase the total until we, hopefully, can hit £60k to help Jim with these pitch renovations. We hope you agree this is a very worthwhile cause. With the Club going full time next season, we know they will have other things on which to spend their funds. If we can take the pressure off them and allow Jim to complete this vital piece of work, then we are sure they will appreciate all our support.
