Many of you have asked how we can help Michelle and Bendick Sy, and their boys Jacob (13) and Jonathan (9), after the devastating loss of much of their community from the Pacific Palisades fire. They are currently displaced as well as Michelle's parents who also live in the Palisades. At the school where their sons attend with my daughter, Michelle has always, with compassion and generosity, taken the lead helping others when they were facing challenging and stressful times. And now they need our help.

This GoFundMe is something we can do to immediately help ease some of the burden of their and their parents' costs during this unsettling time. Although Michelle's parents' house is standing, the street they live on is demolished. They are not able to move back home. Their insurance dropped them and are only insured by California Fair Plan which does not provide for rent and loss of use living expenses. They do not have any additional income being in their 70s. This has caused a huge financial strain for Michelle's parents on top of cancer treatment. Most of the money will be to help Michelle's parents.
