Hello family, friends, church members, coworkers, and Chowchilla alumni. My name is Antoinette Gaines. My daughter Tauheedah Smith is a Chowchilla Union High School alumni, she was in the graduating class of 2001. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Fresno Pacific University while competing on the track team. She also coached volleyball during this time and track and field for the Chowchilla Redskins. This is where her ten year coaching career began. While completing her teacher credential at National University Ty became a physical education teacher and head volleyball coach at Central Valley High School in Ceres, as well as the physical education teacher. While coaching Chowchilla Gold Volleyball Club Ty was hired at Chowchilla High to give back to her own community. My daughter has worked really hard at her education and making a career from her passion while still putting others first. As a mother I am asking for the help of the community, coworkers, and friends to help this hard working alumni of Chowchilla High to get back on the road to recovery.
Tauheedah played in an alumni basketball game at Chowchilla High School on January 16th 2016. That night at the alumni game Ty's life changed when she was going all out for this community event and stole a loose ball, after leaping up in the air she feel hard to the court. The entire gym stood still. As I gasped for air, and tried to exhale, it was the hardest thing seeing your child no matter how old they are hurt really bad.
At this time in her life she is the one who needs some help. Ty needs an ACL replacement, has a fractured tibia, torn meniscus, and torn MCL. On February 18th she will be going into surgery. After which she will be placed in a straight brace for six weeks, then physical therapy for 8 to 10 weeks, and 6 months minimum of rehab. Any donation to help her through this period of recovery would be greatly appreciated for medical expenses, surgery fees, monthly living bills, co-payments, expired sick leave and child care.
Her father Fred Gaines an I are unable to accommodate these needs ($6500 deductible/out of pockets fees, no state disibility etc). She's a christian wife, mother, daughter, friend, teacher, and caring coach who loves what she does. Always remember that we can never be certain about the future, things can turn around in the blink of an eye. If you are unable to donate we thank you for your prayers of total healing and a fast recovery. Thank you and God bless you all.
