JCMS Robotics Team

UPDATE!!! We have qualified for the VEX Worlds competition for the second year in a row! First time team won the coveted Excellence Award and the Think Award at the TN State VEX Robotics Competition. We will be leaving Mountain City, TN for the World Competition on April 24, 2018. Thank you for any donations to help us make this trip possible.
Two years ago, Johnson County Middle school began its journey with VEX Robotics. Through a grant, written by Susan Quave, the team received its first VEX kits and registered for their first competition. The team of 9 students worked numerous hours after school, on weekends, snow days, and holidays to design, build, and program their two competition robots. The students worked diligently to document their progress, problem solve, and complete tasks as a team. The Johnson County Robotics Team, Joco Robos, qualified for the TN state VEX competition in their first season. The Team was established and, with a little experience, moved forward to the VEX 2016-2017 competition season. Through hard work and continued donations from the small community for travel expenses, the Joco Robos WON the VEX State competition and qualified for the World Tournament!!!!In April, 2017, the two year old Joco Robo VEX robotics team competed in the VEX World Competition. The team was funded through donations from the community as the small school system in northeast TN, did not have funds available in the budget to send the team to the competition. The Joco Robos robotics team was the only public middle school team in TN to qualify for the VEX World tournament. The team won the "Create" Award as the team with the most creative designed robot in their division!
Although our school system is extremely proud of our robotics program and supports our competition teams, the new 2017-2018 teams must rely on other sources for funding. We work diligently to acquire grants (which can be difficult) and we greatly appreciate donations to support our program. Joco Robos requires funds for competition fees as well as traveling fees to attend qualifying competitions throughout the State. We will strive to continue our robotics team and again make our community proud of our accomplishments. Thank you for considering a donation.
