Help Bowie and Cheddar survive and thrive!
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Bowie! Thank you for taking the time to check out my fundraiser. I have been unable to work full-time since December of 2019 due to multiple disabilities. I have multiple sclerosis, scoliosis, lupus, fibromyalgia, allergies, eczema, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and more. I am on numerous medications. My symptoms (most notably, chronic pain and fatigue) vary in severity daily. I believe a service dog will help me to regain some of my independence.
Update: As of November 2022, I finally have a service dog! He's a two-year-old smooth collie named Cheddar. We're still working on building our relationship and training, but I'm excited about our future together! Unfortunately, he came with a few broken teeth that need medical attention (his trainer isn't sure how it happened). Thankfully, his trainer is willing to help cover these costs by deducting it from the remainder I owe (~$5k) for his overall price. This fundraiser's goal has been lowered, since I was able to cover the rest on my own.
Service Dog tasks:
- mobility support (light bracing, counter-balance, forward momentum up inclines/stairs)
- pressure therapy (for leg spasticity, and anxiety)
- pressing door opening buttons when I'm using a mobility device
- retrieval (clothing items, meds, water bottle, dropped items, etc.)
- block (providing a physical barrier to prevent crowding)
- alert (to fatigue/anxiety/etc.)
- interrupt (scratching eczema, nervous habits)
