Johnny’s recovery

Anyone who knows Johnny and Mayra knows that they are up there with all the best duos… Tequila n Salt, Peanut Butter n Jelly, Jack n Sally!

Late on Thursday night their world was turned upside down when Johnny was involved in a multi-vehicle car accident on the freeway while driving to work.

Thanks to an incredible response time by the emergency services, Johnny was transported to the hospital very quickly allowing them to treat his injuries immediately. Johnny underwent emergency surgery to remove his ruptured spleen and repair damage to his liver. On Friday morning Mayra received the news that Johnny was expected to make a full recovery but that the process would be long and painful.

While they are processing that all of this has even happened, they are eternally grateful for all of the prayers, messages of support and outpouring of love that they have received over the last 4 days.

To say that Johnny was lucky is an understatement, his injuries are extensive and will affect his ability to work. He underwent another 7 hour surgery on Saturday afternoon to repair a compound fracture to his right arm, fracture to his left arm and a broken right leg.

He also has a broken sternum, 7 broken ribs and a fractured spine.

As Mayra’s priority is Johnny’s care and recovery this will also impact her ability to work.

This young couple have so much to deal with in the coming weeks and months, the purpose of this fundraiser is to eliminate some of the financial burden associated with this awful accident. This will allow Johnny and Mayra to focus on navigating this recovery period without stressing about paying bills.
