Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Fundraiser
Hi! Our names are Olivia, Emily, Roxana, Keira, Yehna, and Ryan. We are raising money so that we can get to the World Championships for Odyssey of the Mind in Ames, Iowa on May 25th-29th, 2022.
We are the Odyssey of the Mind division 2/ problem 2 team from El Camino Creek Elementary school in Carlsbad, California.
We are all in 6th grade and Olivia and Emily have been involved in Odyssey of the Mind since second grade and this is their first shot at the world tournament!
Our team, the Dilemma Dinos, placed 2nd in the long-term problem solving competition by creating an Odyssey “reOmvention” device that eliminated an environmental threat. Also at the California State tournament on April 2nd, we received 1st place in spontaneous STEM problem-solving!
Now we are asking for your help! Please help us get to the world tournament in Ames, Iowa.
We are asking for $10,000 to cover the cost of our travel, accommodations, food and registration.
We will be holding local bake sales in our hometown of Carlsbad and Encinitas as well as volunteering at our school events where we can ask for donations.
What is Odyssey of the Mind? It is an international team-based creative problem-solving competition that engage students in their learning by allowing their knowledge and ideas to come to life in an exciting productive environment. Team members build 21st-century skills, create new friendships, and are able to recognize and explore their true potential. Problems naturally lend themselves to a STEM and ART focus, also requiring a dramatic presentation. Students bring their solutions to competitions on local, state and world level. Teams from almost every state & 25 other countries participate in the program.
The Dilemma Dinos will be fundraising $10,000 to pay for their trip to the competition.
