Mercy High School, a Catholic college preparatory school in Farmington, Michigan serves young women of diverse backgrounds and various faiths. The School educates and inspires students toward lives of leadership and compassionate service as embraced by the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy.
Mercy High School Track & Field and Cross Country
Mercy High School Track & Field and Cross Country Teams are in the process of a generational transformation to enhance student-athletes’ success, self-confidence, and leadership skills, and to value hard work and teamwork. Their success will also enable potential post-high school athletic competition to assist their collegiate efforts.
During the 2018-2019 academic year we challenged our athletes to continuously improve and achieve personal goals. The student-athletes responded incredibly well. They achieved more Personal Records (“PRs”) than any Michigan High School and were the 19th highest in the Nation among over 3,000 high schools!
We seek your support to enhance student training facilities, analogous to facilities many male high school athletes enjoy. These facilities will be open to all Mercy High School student-athlete to promote their fitness and success. The resultant student-athlete success should promote State and National recognition, furthering interest in Mercy High School and complementing its Track and Field and Cross Country programs,
Challenge
The first step in our transformation is to more accurately time and measure our students’ performances. We need equipment to accomplish this and intend to purchase a Fully Automatic Timing System (FAT) for use at both Track & Field and Cross Country meets. This will also enable Mercy High School to hold invitational meets throughout the year and provide “FAT” times, recognized as “official” by the running community, the Michigan High School Athletic Association, and Universities around the Country.
Equipment
The system that we desire is the MVP FAT System by Finishlynx, a state of the art system that Mercy High School Student- Athletes deserve. The Program seeks to raise $26,500 to offset the cost of this equipment. All donations will be received directly by Mercy High School and are tax-deductible. Funds raised will be used toward the purchase of a "FAT" System. Excess funds raised will be used toward the new training facilities.
