Support the Network of Community Schools for Girls in Afghanistan
A Call to Conscience and Compassion
The girls of Afghanistan have been silenced — not by choice, not by law, but by the decree of a regime that fears their potential. Yet, even under such darkness, a quiet but steadfast resistance continues in the form of the Network of Community Schools for Girls in Afghanistan (NCSGA) — known to many as Daricha.
For nearly four years, Daricha has worked across 20 provinces, reaching more than 4,500 girls through the tireless efforts of 175 female teachers. These home-based community schools are more than just places of learning — they are sanctuaries of hope, resilience, and human dignity.
Until April 2024, we had the support of a modest grant. That lifeline was cut when the donor required our registration and operational permission from the Taliban — a condition that we could not and would not fulfill, for it would mean endorsing a decree that bans girls’ education entirely.
Since then, our teachers — courageous women who teach in secret, often at great personal risk — have continued their work without regular pay. Some small organizations and individuals have stepped forward to help, and through their generosity, we have managed to support 25 teachers. But that leaves 150 teachers without support, and thousands of girls in danger of losing their only access to education.
Daricha is now in the process of obtaining charitable status in Canada, but the path is long and we cannot wait. The time to act is now. We appeal to those who believe that education is a human right, not a privilege — and that the women and girls of Afghanistan deserve to dream, learn, and lead.
If you’ve ever wondered how a small act of kindness can change a life, consider this:
$10 helps one girl study for an entire month.
$100 allows one teacher to continue her vital work for a full month.
Let us not forget: None of the unsuccessful suicide attackers who were captured before committing their heinous acts in Afghanistan had mothers who were educated. If we want a future built on peace, we must start by educating those who nurture it — our girls.
Please donate, share, and stand with us.
Because silence helps only the oppressor.
Because the future of Afghanistan lies not in fear — but in learning.
Because you can be the reason one girl keeps studying.
With respect and HOPE
