Help Katie Recover After A Car Accident
Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and kind strangers. My sister Katie was in a terrible car accident earlier this week and needs our help.
Katie is a single mom of two amazing boys and a busy massage therapist. She works so hard and does a fantastic job of providing for her family.
On Monday morning she was on her way to take her son to daycare and then go to work and was t-bone hit on the driver side door by a large work truck carrying a trailer full of equipment. Her car spun a few times, all airbags deployed, windshield and windows shattered, and the body of the car crumpled like a sardine can. Luckily her toddler son was okay but unfortunately, Katie was severely injured. As the car was spinning she and her son were screaming and then she heard her son go silent. Out of fear that he was dead she turned her upper body around to look at him and completely strained many of the muscles in her neck. Between the airbags deploying and the force of the impact she suffered a severe concussion that has left her completely debilitated. She has constant ringing in her left ear, headaches, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, balance issues, and extreme exhaustion. She has cuts on her hands, arms, and face, bruises head to toe, and her hand was cut in several places and required stitches. She is also suffering the effects of PTSD and continues to have flashbacks of the accident daily which makes sleeping difficult because that’s when the flashbacks flood in.
She feels defeated, depressed, and overwhelmed. She doesn’t feel like she’ll ever be herself again and able to work and provide for and take care of her boys. My parents flew to Nashville from Eugene to care for her but they won’t be able to stay for much longer.
Please consider donating to help Katie. Any amount would help her to really rest and recover without the stress and burden of making ends meet. She is the hardest worker I know and will push herself to go back to work before her body is ready unless we help her out. Concussions take time to heal and if you push yourself too soon you can prolong the healing process and create long term cognitive impairments. Let’s work together to make sure this doesn’t happen.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
So much love and gratitude,
Kendelle, her big sister
