Hello Friends and Family,
My name is Christy Hill. I am a friend of the Pressley Family and I would like to ask for your help. On December 28th, Teyton Pressley was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was causing hydrocephalus. Within hours he had surgery to relieve the pressure in his brain by putting in an ETV (Endoscopic third ventriculosotomy) and a biopsy was done. On January 7th Matthew and Christina were told that Teyton had a tumor called a non-germinomotous mixed cell germ tumor. It is made up of different types of cancer cells as well as benign cells. On January 21st Teyton started, what was to be 6 rounds of Chemotherapy. After 2 rounds of chemo, they found a few things. The tumor was still growing, albeit at a slower rate and the consistency of the tumor had changed and seemed more cystic. Lab studies showed that the tumor markers were lowered or normal suggesting the chemo had killed certain cancer cells in the tumor and it is believed what remains is a mature teratoma, hopefully benign. Because it is probably benign it is also resistant to chemotherapy, which is why it is continuing to grow. Tomorrow March 15th Teyton will have a second brain surgery that will take 7-8 hours. The goal is to remove all or most of the tumor which will be sent for pathology to see if any cancer remains. What is not known is if Teyton will have to have more chemotherapy, how long he will be in the hospital or if he will need rehabilitation following surgery. What is known is that at the very least he will need 6 weeks of proton radiation therapy.
Teyton is being treated at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. As most of you probably know, the Pressley's are handling this very anxious and stressful time with a tremendous amount of grace and faith. But they could use our help. There will be transportation costs, medical bills not covered by insurance, deductibles, and loss of income as both Matthew and Christina have had to step back from teaching.
The Pressley's have always done so much for their friends, family, church and community. Let us now help them through this very difficult time by donating to this fund so they can keep their focus on family and healing rather than the stress of bills. It would mean so much to them and I would be very grateful as well.
