Help Jbay surf house raise money for young surfers

A message from Jack Fleetwood:

In the picturesque town of Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, where the waves of the Indian Ocean meet the sandy shores, a tale of resilience unfolds. The Jbay surf house, led by a local lad Jimeal, is creating ripples of change for the children of the townships, offering them a chance to ride the waves and dream beyond the divides.

Jeffreys Bay, renowned for its surf culture and the famous Supertubes wave, conceals a stark contrast within its scenic beauty. Here, the townships stand as a testament to the other side of the coin, where economic disparities create two different worlds within one community.

Having initiated my own surf camps at the surflodge in Jeffreys Bay, I, Jack Fleetwood, crossed paths with Jimeal on my first day. He introduced me to the profound vision of Jbay surf house. More than just a surf school, it's a bridge that connects the two shores of wealth disparity, where children from the townships discover joy, camaraderie, and a profound sense of belonging.

In the six months since my arrival, these remarkable kids have transformed into incredible shredders. Now, as these talented youngsters gear up for competitions, financial barriers threaten to keep their dreams at bay. The entry fees for the upcoming three competitions alone are a hefty 40 euros per child, not to mention the additional costs for a vehicle, fuel, and surf supplies for a competition located over an hour away. I don’t think it’s fair that these competitions should only be available for kids of wealthy backgrounds.

Next week, I plan to run a marathon in my Converse shoes, symbolising the uphill battle these kids face against financial divides. Out of shape and unprepared, I’m ready to go the extra mile – literally – to ensure that every child, regardless of their background in Jeffreys Bay, has an equal opportunity to ride the waves of success

To turn my vision into reality, myself and Jimeal are launching this “Jbay surf house” GoFundMe campaign. The goal is not just to cover competition entry fees but also to provide essential resources like surf equipment, transportation, and much-needed wetsuits for the kids from the townships.

Your support will not only make a splash in the lives of these children but also build a bridge of unity between the different shores of Jeffreys Bay. By contributing to “Jbay surf house,” you become an integral part of a movement that transcends surfing – it's about breaking down economic divides and nurturing dreams.

Join us in this incredible journey. Your donation, big or small, will make waves of difference, bridging the gap and empowering these kids to surf not only on the ocean but also in the vast sea of opportunities that lie ahead.
