Let me introduce myself to you. My name is John Orlando Babbitt. I am a 54 year old, Army Veteran, that lives in Schererville, Indiana, Married to my wife Murrell and son Marcus.
I was diagnosed with bi-lateral renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) in 2008 while working for the Illinios Department of Transportation, Minuteman (IDOT). I had to have them both kidneys removed because of cancer in October of 2013. Presently I'm on dialysis 3 days a week , 4 hrs each session which leaves me very exhausted to say the least.
My wife and I have traveled to various transplant centers in the region; Advocate Christ Hospital transplant department in Oaklawn, IL, University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin and The Veteran Affairs Hospital in Maywood, IL to get accepted into there transplant program. As you can tell I'm in need of a kidney and this could be very costly for me and my family, since my wife will have to take a leave of absence from her job (FMLA) to be my care giver.
