My name is Claire Joy and I am a working actress who loves accents! In LA, I work two jobs to make ends meet. While I live in L.A., ground zero for an acting career, I take advantage of all of the work and training available in the area. I am thrilled to share that I was admitted into a specialized workshop on voice and dialects taught at the world-renowned Kristin Linklater Voice Center in Orkney, Scotland. Only 12 applicants are accepted for this master workshop! Linklater Voice Technique is an esteemed breath and voice training taught at BFA and MFA theater programs throughout the United States. I am taking this professional training to become a more skilled actress and develop my specialization of comedic character acting. I need your help to make it happen!
I am seeking personal donations from friends and family to make the expense of attending this training possible! I am taking some unpaid vacation time in order to complete this program. The conversion from US dollars to Sterling roughly breaks into the following costs:
Airfare: $850
Program fee: $1105
Vat tax:$150
Transportation within Scotland to Orkney (bus, train, and ferry!): $300
Partial meal costs: $300
Other fees/taxes/misc: $100

About Claire:
I am a natural ham, a performer who loves to act, improvise, dance and play dress up. Since moving to California, I have been pursuing opportunities and training to become a professional performer. I am currently in the advanced level at the Groundlings Theater and School, where I put up my first original sketch piece, "America Regrets" in response to the Kavanaugh appointment. This piece featured four original characters played by me using four accents: Boston, Southern, "teen voice" and Midwest-Michigan. I've also studied with Impro Theatre LA, Action Theater, and the Jacques Lecoq method. As a dancer, physical comedy and being an embodied performer comes more naturally to me. I love accents and have an ear for placing dialects which I want to develop as a tool in my career. A desire to improve these skills and a love for accents, lead me to apply to for this special workshop taught at the world-renowned Kristin Linklater Voice Centre in Orkney, Scotland.
About the program:
Kristen Linklater is a world-renowned teacher of voice production who has pursued a highly successful academic and theatrical career in the United States and Europe for the past fifty years. She is one of the most recognized names in the field of voice production for actors. In addition to Kristin’s specialized and revolutionary breath work for performers, she has invited Louis Colaianni, voice and dialect coach and MFA professor who specializes in accents and dialects, to teach a workshop that combines Linklater Voice work with Colianni’s revolutionary approach to speech and phonetics. This is an incredible opportunity for me to study with two of the best teachers in this field. I am humbled and inspired to have been accepted into this program.
