Many of you are aware of Jazzmin's ambition to become a US Ambassador or a US Representative for peace and education in Asia with an emphasis on globalization and social justice. Outside of her normal class schedule she has joined DECA and won 3rd place in her first statewide competition for Principles of Management, she also competes in Speech and Debate, takes online classes for additional credits, is learning Mandarin and self teaching Japanese. Amongst other things she is doing a fine job at being an amazing daughter and big sister.
Jazzmin is a high school freshman now and has been nominated by one of her school advisors to attend this summer's National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security, which will be a 6 day event hosted in Washington DC. Speakers include experts in National Security and Foreign Affairs (CIA, Peace Corps, The World Bank, NSA, various military branches, etc.) .
The forum includes:
-Career panels on Diplomacy, Intellegence and Defense, international affairs
-On-site group meetings and break out sessions with foreign embassies, the Pentagon, US Dept of State
-Seminars on Globalization and International Trade, Defense and diplomacy, combatting terrorism, etc.
-live simulations of an international crisis
Opportunities like this are impossible to find in Nevada and surrounding states. I would really love to send her and feel that she deserves to be celebrated and her path to success encouraged. I think an event of this caliber will make such a profound impact on her future - but I can't do it by myself. I need your help to send her and I know that your support will help make the experience even more memorable and special knowing her family and community supports her progress. Tuition for the event is about $2800.00 and includes room, board and transportation during the forum. Tuition does not include flight and other transportation. Round trip flights to D.C. During that week cost roughly between $600-700. Incidentals we figure will be about $200. Her room and board will be provided by NYLF.
