Jazmyn's Cancer Treatment out of State

Donation protected
2 years ago our family was changed forever!

We went to the doctors office for a swollen eye on our daughter Jazmyn. The doctor could not tell us what was wrong and after 4 other doctors we decided to get a CT scan of her head. After we got the scans the doctors told us that we should get admitted to the ER for a thorough checkup. After 7 VERY long hours and multiple doctors later they informed my wife and I that Jazmyn had a large mass in her abdomen, that they believed was possibly a tumor. Sure enough after more investigating and more hours at the hospital Jazmyn was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma Cancer. The large mass in her abdomen was a tumor that had consumed her kidney. They informed us that they would need to remove it as soon as possible. They then removed it and our Cancer journey had begun. The doctors told us we had a 60% chance of cure and remission. We believed in our doctors and we still do. After 6 rounds of hard Chemotherapy, 2 Bone Marrow Transplants, 12 rounds of Radiation, and 9 rounds of Chemotherapy mixed with Antibody therapy, her cancer has not gotten better. All though it has not gotten worse, the doctors now say that they do not believe they can cure her, they can only keep her stable. No one knows how long she could be stable, it could be 20 years or 2 days...so we have decided to look into more studies, more treatments and other options for Jazmyn. Jazmyn became a big sister in December of 2019 and the relationship she has and the love she has for her brother is unbreakable. We want her to be able to grow up and know her brother better, help him grow up, and help other siblings she will have in the future!

Unfortunately our hospital does not have all these other treatments available and so we will need to go out of state. Our insurance will not cover the cost of moving out of state, the treatment, and other necessary meetings and hospital visits that Jazmyn may need. We are hoping to get this money to be able to give Jazmyn a long life. We will be using the money to help with moving and getting to Houston Texas because that is where her next treatment will be. We will then be using the rest of the funds towards her treatment for what will not be covered. We drive a beat up 2002 Toyota that has 250000 miles on it. We are going to be buying a used car to get us to Texas. And hopefully finding a place with reasonable pricing to live in. We will also be using what we can for the treatment itself!

We know that these other options are not in any way a for sure cure, but as parents, we are going to do what ever we can to get her the most healthy she can be. The doctors in Texas are telling us that she can get into the first study within a few months and so we are trying to save up now. With COVID-19 going on it is very difficult for us to work out of the house since her immune system is compromised. I work where I can with my father and we make ends meet. But this treatment is the best option for her if we are to try and move forward!

We will not give up on our daughter. We hope that you will see that she is the most sweet and loving girl in the world. She keeps our family strong even when things go wrong. She has a smile on her face at all times. She loves music, movies, books, arts and crafts, and much much more!!! She is so adventurous and so outgoing it is hard to keep her under control. Even in the hospital with all the lines, needles, dressings, bandages, and other things attatched to her she is laughing and playing and running up and down the halls of the unit. We can't live without her. She is our everything and we have faith that no matter what happens, it is what God wants. She needs to have a long life, her energy and personality needs to be shared throughout the world. She is amazing!
