My name is Jazmin Porter I am Throws Coach out of Portland Tennessee. I’m reaching out to ask for support as I pursue a second chance at my dream. I was once a top discus thrower, breaking records at my high school, junior college and again at a D1 University. Despite these achievements, injuries and addiction derailed my athletic career, and for years I struggled to find my way back.
After five years of sobriety following the birth of my son(2020), 80lbs of weight loss, and new found level of discipline, I am ready to return to the sport I love and compete at an elite level. As an unattached athlete, I’m responsible for all my own expenses—travel, gear, training and entry fees for the meets I need to qualify for the elite level meets. The biggest challenge I face right now is affording travel to these important competitions, most of which are far from home.
Your support will help cover these costs and give me the chance to prove to myself and others that redemption is possible. Every contribution brings me closer to my goal and helps me show that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. Thank you for believing in me and being part of my journey.
Currently self coached with some virtual support.
Competed at my first meet in over a decade on 5/2/2025 at Vanderbilt and unexpectedly won the event with a throw of 160’
Currently throwing 180’+ in the practice field. Needing more opportunities to increase that number in an officiated setting.
