Jazmine Janness’ Weitlauf aka Drake
August 30th, 1995-April 12th, 2018

As friends family and community, we never quite know what to say or do to help the family. With this terrible unexpected tragedy comes the unfairly burden of cost.  So my ask to you as a friend , who wants to help is no matter how large or small if we could all donate  in Jazmine’s memory we could at least take some of that unspoken burden off the family. Below are her mother’s writings and a beautiful poem to her daughter.

Thanks to you all! It will be greatly appreciated!

Lover of nature, animals, and people. fearless warrior, and free-spirited adventurer, Jazmine Janness’ Weitlauf (Drake), left a hole in our hearts on April 12th, 2018. It’s hard not to smile when thinking about Jazmine, even in this depth of sorrow. She entered this world full of radiant light and love on August 30th, 1995 at 6:22pm in Monroe, WA. She was a brave and bodacious child, full of life and laughter. As an only child, Jazmine loved unconditionally without reservation and she brightened the world touching the hearts of every person and animal she encountered.  Her early years were spent in Kirkland, and then was the first woman in her family to graduate from high school, which is located in Stanwood WA.

Not one to sit still, Jazmine was always on the move and dreamed of traveling the world with her heart full of love. Always in search of the most exotic places, others wouldn’t dare to go to. Jazmine was a true one-of-a-kind Virgo, beautiful artistic soul of an angel, she enjoyed hiking and a talented artist, poet, promoter, Go-Go dancer, and a full-time barista. She would talk about her dreams of moving to Hawaii and Thailand then settling down with her own family one day. Tragically her young 22 ½ year life was ended before those dreams could come true.

Jazmine’s friend looked into her eyes as she fell backwards when the ground under her feet gave away. She fell 80 feet into a 22 + foot turbulent whirlpool towards the end of Young Creek Fall’s gorge in Monroe/Sultan. Over the next 8 days there was record breaking rain. The water rose 11 ½ ft. which flushed her out of that vicious whirlpool and on the ninth day after King County and Snohomish County Search and Rescue, Seattle Units, over 20 volunteers and Marine divers had exhausted their search efforts, she was found! She was found by another friend who told me one week prior that he could feel things and he’d be the one to find her! The day he told me that I wrote in my journal a vision of how she would be found and exactly one week later, my vision was 100% accurate! It was only 40ft. down from where she fell and everyone had searched there many times, even the divers! Only days later, her friend went to talk with a Medium, which gave her a message for me. She said that she “Loves me” and that “she’s a f*@!* whale”! I didn’t understand and thought it to be a term I hadn’t learned yet. Three days later I received a phone call from another Medium in Kansas! She had a message for me from Jazmine! She explained that it took her about 4 breaths to die (which was later confirmed by the medical examiner) and when she died her energy was dispersed throughout the ecosystem and some was put into phytoplankton in the sea and “A whale had eaten her!” I’m not sure if what I was told is something we can actually understand yet in this life but I cry with joy for this because it confirms that I truly can see her light everywhere!

I wrote this poem for her because (as anyone who had a chance to be in her presence can also relate) Jazmine’s soul was such a beautiful, bright, kind light. She truly took the time and energy to give to everyone she met. Her beauty radiated from the inside out, sweet and loving, a caring soul of an angel that had a way of making forgiveness look easy. And her love continues to grow with every person I meet that has a wonderful story to share about how much Jazmine meant to them and will forever be remembered as their best friend!

Light and Love
By Jazmine’s Mom

Jazmine, you are love that stirs within my soul,
At first was just a feeling, now your light is in control.
Not spawned from common factors, oh where do I began,
Its presence quite a mystery, I’ll explain the best I can.

For every love you pay a price, that gives to you in turn,
A bond so bold but concurs, to never cause concern.
Your memories never fade away, standing with your light and love
Never alone to contemplate, as you look down from above.

Trying to grasp the reason, while knowing it’s far too late,
For you gave all of your heart, and with such have sealed your fate.
A costly lesson for anyone, and one that must be taught,
There’s reason for this simple barter, and why love can’t be bought.

I sit and ponder all of love; my mind is somehow set free,
If love was blind like they say, then explain it following me,
But blind it is and still I wonder how it seeks us out
And forces us to take its bond, regardless of our doubt.

As time moves on love cycles through, each and every time,
Always there for us to claim, like reason for its rhyme.
This has to be the reason, your light in verity I know,
I guarantee it’s not lacking, as your love subsequently shows.

I suppose it doesn’t matter really, where or why or how
Because what truly matters, must become the topic now.
To act with love and care to everything,
With passion because life is worth more than nothing,
So thank you for this lesson Jazmine,
And for loving and sharing your life with me!
