It is unfortunate that I can only choose one category for this trip, "travel & adventure." Rather this trip is a culmination of a lifelong dream: a pilgrimage of self-discovery and discipline, a separation from the modern world, and most importantly silence.
At the end of May 2018 I will take the pilgrimage route known as the Camino del Norte which begins at the northeast border of France and Spain. At Oviedo I will continue with the Camino Primitivo which is the very first, and most arduous, route traversing over more than a 500 mile route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Campostela in northwest Spain.
My goal of this trip warrants physical and emotional endurance and unfortunately not a small financial burden as the route can take up to 30 days to walk. Any assistance covers flights, food, and lodging. Thankfully on the route lodging is fairly cheap for pilgrims at 5-15€ per night.
This pilgrimage gives me the opportunity for self-reflection, solitude, and most importantly the silence of the Spanish countryside. I am a classical musician, organist & pianist, that works mostly freelance. I believe that 30 days away from my music and practice will help with understanding the place of music in my vocation and life.
I appreciate any financial assistance and emotional support as I take my journey.
I need to ask 600 people for $10. Are you one of the 600 to help me on my pilgrimage?
Jay
