Jay’s Recovery–Apollo Theater Roof Collapse
Donation protected
This fundraiser is being organized by Alyssa Terleski, Annie Fridlund, and Cassie Arneja on behalf of our friend Alexis Arnold.
Alexis's husband Jay was critically injured in the Apollo Theater roof collapse in Belvidere, IL on Friday, 3/31/23. We believe Jay was close to the stage when a severe storm caused the roof to collapse and buried him and many others in the rubble. Jay is an avid concert-goer and metal fan, and traveled with his wife from their home in MN to see this show. As a huge fan of Morbid Angel, he was excited to see the band make their way to the Midwest and was happy to see Revocation, Skeletal Remains, and especially Crypta on the ticket. He had tickets to see the show at four different venues in the Midwest over the weekend. Alexis was at a hotel nearby when she heard the news that he was rushed to a local trauma center in Rockford, IL. Jay was sedated and intubated for 5 days following the incident. He has already had three surgeries to treat multiple broken bones and a head injury. Jay is now breathing on his own and beginning to communicate, but still has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
By day, Jay is one of those rare individuals who makes a difference in the lives of others through his work as a mental healthcare provider. In order to protect the privacy of his patients Alexis has coordinated with Jay’s office colleague to follow up with patients in a way that honors his professional standards. Jay is showing early positive signs in his treatment, but the road through recovery is long. We’re asking for donations in any amount to help with their ongoing medical expenses and support for Jay’s loss of income while he and Alexis focus on his recovery. Thank you so much for your support. Anything helps!
