Jay’s Emergency Liver Transplant Journey
Donation protected
I’m Holly and I’m actually one of Jay’s wife’s best friends. I was trying to think of a way to try to help ease their burden and this is what I decided could help the most. Jay Sutfin is a 31 year old husband and father to 5 amazing boys who look up to him and depend on him. Jay went into sudden liver failure and is now fighting in the ICU to become stable enough to be transferred to OSU for a possible emergency Liver transplant. His wife, Jess is his sole caregiver and his advocate and loves him with everything she has. They have both dedicated their lives to helping others with Jay building lower limb prosthetics so that people can walk again and his wife also working in many parts of the medical field over the years including the Emergency Room helping give patients and families a second chance at life. Once Jay is transferred due to the pandemic it has made things a little more difficult and she will not be able to stay in the hospital with him at all times so they need help with gas and lodging, the boys and spread out staying with family so we need to make sure she can get back and forth to see them or have somewhere she can have them with her. With both of them now all of the sudden off of work Jess is afraid by the time all of this is over or at least settled down they will have lost everything. The last thing they need to worry about is how they are going to financially stay afloat when they need to focus on getting Jay that transplant and the long road that lies ahead after. Once the transplant is over a whole new rough path starts that includes many weekly trips to Columbus and lifelong medication and adjustment to the new life that can be a slippery slope with a chance or transplant rejection always there. If anyone deserves help it would be these two caring loving people who just want for jay to have a second chance at life without losing everything in the process so that their kids can have their adventures dad back. The funds would go towards lodging while in Columbus (their car won’t make those daily trips and the plans of getting a new one have been abruptly halted) at OSU, food, house hold bills, help with child care, gas, and any medical necessities and medications that insurance will not cover or high co-pays. Anything helps even a dollar, it all accumulates! They would be so very grateful!! They are pretty prideful people and do not like asking for help so they are struggling allowing me to ask random people for assistance, but they know at this point it’s desperately needed.
